Tenure-track faculty position in Computer Science at U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis, MD)

I am a PhD grad from Waterloo in 2011 and I'm now an Assistant Professor at the US Naval Academy. You do NOT have to be in the US military for the position below or take part in any kind of military training; in fact, you don't even have to be a US citizen! We are simply seeking the most-qualified candidates, and I'm sure there are a few excellent PhD students or postdocs at Waterloo who might be interested.

If anyone has further questions about the department or what it's like here, they can reach out to me. If they have specific questions about the job search, they should contact Prof. Luke McDowell, lmcdowel@usna.edu.

Formal job ad follows.

Thanks,
Dan Roche

Subject: Tenure-track faculty position in Computer Science at U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis, MD)

The U.S. Naval Academy's Computer Science Department has an opening for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. The Naval Academy is an undergraduate institution located in historic downtown Annapolis, Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay.

The Computer Science Department offers majors in Computer Science and Information Technology, and contributes to a new interdisciplinary major in Cyber Operations. We currently have 100 CS majors, 70 IT majors and a faculty of 18. In addition to courses for CS, IT, and Cyber Operations majors, we also teach a course on cyber security to the entire freshman class.

Applicants must have a dedication to teaching, broad teaching interests, and a strong research program. Applications are encouraged from all areas of computing research.

The Naval Academy is a teaching-focused undergraduate institution, but among such schools is unusual for supporting and cultivating a high degree of faculty research (in part through research funding and reasonable teaching loads). This is a unique opportunity for the right individuals to join a dynamic program and to have significant impact on future leaders.
