Rhodes scholarship

The Rhodes Scholarship competition for Canada (to be held at Oxford, UK) has just been launched.

Eligibility Highlights: Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of CanadaBy October 1st, 2017, the applicant must be between the ages of 19 and 25Student must have received their undergraduate degree prior to holding the Rhodes scholarshipMust have extensive accomplishments – see website above for examples of contributions from past Rhodes applicants
Deadline:  FIRM deadline of September 12th @ 9:00 a.m. EST by which application materials (outlined on website) and 6 letters of assessment must be emailed to me

Next local ACM-style programming contest June 19

The next Waterloo-local ACM-style programming contest will be held on Sunday, June 19 in MC 3022 and MC 2061. 
All members of the UW community are invited to try their programming skill in Scheme, C, C++, Java, or Pascal.

The contest will run from 1 pm sharp until 4 pm, and will be followed by pizza. 
There will be a practice contest in the morning to allow contestants, especially those competing for the first time, to get their account setup and become familiar with the contest environment.
Contestants participating in the practice contest should arrive by 10:30 am in MC 3022. 
For out-of-town participants, it is possible to participate remotely using a web-based system, but local participants are encouraged to attend in person if possible.
