MedHacks - Annual healthcare focused hackathon at Johns Hopkins Hospital

MedHacks is the largest healthcare hackathon in the world hosting 400+ clinicians, engineers, data scientists, and students annually! The upcoming Virtual Fall 2020 event will take place the weekend of September 4th-6th where we will be tackling pressing medical issues at the intersection of medicine, tech, and entrepreneurship. We'll have a variety of speakers and workshops including Will Robbins from Contrary Capital, Po-Shen Loh founder of NOVID and professor at CMU, and Google Cloud. STEM Opportunity for CS students - Hack for the People 2020

Hack for the People is an intercollegiate hackathon designed to engage students in tackling some of the world’s largest problems. We are committed to offering attendees the resources and opportunity to innovate solutions along the four hackathon tracks: political, economic, socio-cultural, and environmental. Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate on projects with students from all around the world, be mentored by experts, hear from keynote speakers, and win prizes ranging from internship and job opportunities to a donation to a charity of your choice.  Registration is free and now open ! Give back to Canada on Canada Day 2018 - volunteer opportunities

The University of Waterloo is looking for volunteers to help out with a variety of roles this Canada Day 2018 including face painting, customer service, social media, and more. Students can apply by searching for “Canada Day” under the “Jobs” tab in LEADS: https://leads.uwaterloo.ca/Account/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2fHome Interviews are held ONLY for executive positions, not regular ones, and shouldn’t last more than 15 minutes maximum. Are you interested in helping teens develop coding skills?

There are several high schools in our area that would like to offer computer programming clubs for their students but need help. They have a teacher who is willing to handle the administrative aspects * of running a club, but need somebody with programming expertise to teach coding skills. We are running a pilot project this fall to connect volunteers and schools. If you have programming skills and would like to volunteer, please come to our information session : When : October 18. Volunteers for a digital application survey

We are looking for volunteers to take part in a study of user types of gameful digital applications. This research intends to validate a questionnaire to find out what is a user?s main type of interaction with gameful digital applications based on the HEXAD User Types framework. If you decide to volunteer, you will be asked to complete a 25-minute online survey that is completed anonymously. Survey questions focus on your preferences while using digital applications and games. In appreciation for your time, you can enter your name into a draw for one of two USD $ 50 international Visa gift cards. I would like to assure you that the study has been reviewed and received ethics clearance through a University of Waterloo Research Ethics Committee (ORE # 21354). Math students looking for meaningful volunteer opportunities

For upper-year Math students who are looking for meaningful volunteer opportunities, the International Peer Community (IPC) is a one-term peer mentorship program that matches new international students with upper-year volunteer mentors.   IPC volunteers will get to share their university experience with students from different parts of the world, help them settle in Waterloo, and provide valuable advice to them. We are looking for Math Faculty HeForShe Student Volunteers!

Each Faculty at UWaterloo is running activities and events that focus on issues of gender equity that are specific to that Faculty’s disciplines. I am contacting you because I am conducting a study in my graduate research for my Master’s thesis on the topic of “Human Performance and Cognitive Workload in Haptic, Audio and Visual Environments” under the supervision of Professor David Wang of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo. I am currently seeking volunteers as participants in this study.   If you volunteer for this study, you will be asked to wear a noise cancelling headset, use a computer monitor and use a haptic device. This email has been sent on behalf of a UW-led research team in collaboration with researchers from Pennsylvania State University. My name is Dr. Owen Gallupe and I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Legal Studies at the University of Waterloo. I am leading a study examining the effect of the sight of rewards on task performance and I am looking for undergraduate students to participate in a one time, 35 minute experiment. This study has implications for incentive programs to promote good behaviour in prison settings. Online business simulation workshop volunteers needed

The Nspire Discover Series organization at Waterloo is looking for individuals with knowledge in computer science to help us develop a workshop in the coming weeks. As part of our workshop, we are looking to integrate finance with computer science by implementing an online business simulation and helping students use trading algorithms.  We are planning on teaching students how to use coding to help solve business problems, and trade stocks.
