IDEAS Mentor Hiring

Marketing and Undergrad Recruitment is hiring mentors to help run the IDEAS Summer Experience for international high school students. This month-long job runs from July 10 th  to August 4 th . We are looking for energetic and highly motivated students with experience volunteering or working in roles such as dons, ambassadors, orientation leaders or camp counselors. Leadership or mentorship experience at the University of Waterloo and in the student community is considered an asset for this role. Open Challenges in Data Science

Abstract: Manulife’s Advanced Analytics teams translate complex data into insights. We use machine learning and other predictive modelling techniques to predict the likelihood of future events and optimize outcomes. Four use cases we believe data science can improve the customer experience are:  1)      Predictive Underwriting - Buying a life insurance product can be a lengthy and time-consuming process. How can predictive analytics improve the underwriting approval process? 2)      Fraud Detection – The daily volume of insurance claims is extremely large and identifying fraudulent claims can be a very challenging task. How does supervised machine learning and anomaly detection techniques play a role in identifying such fraudulent claims? 3)      Speech Analytics - We have billions of customer voi
