Each Faculty at UWaterloo is running activities and events that focus on issues of gender equity that are specific to that Faculty’s disciplines. The Math Faculty is planning the following student-initiated activities: 1) Gender Equity Hackathon - a weekend hackathon centred on projects that promote gender equity (planned for Spring 2017) 2) Math Faculty Student Survey - on opinions about gender equity and inclusivity in the Math Faculty (planned for Fall 2016) 3) HeForShe Awareness - awareness events, communications, readings, social media (ongoing) We are currently seeking volunteers to help develop and deliver each of the above events and activities.  (Even the Hackathon, which is not scheduled until Spring 2017, needs to be worked on this term.)  As a student volunteer, you would help in the development and delivery of one of the above events or activities, under the leadership of a Student Action Leader.  To volunteer, send email to  mathhefo@lists.uwaterloo.c

Hello, We are Alberto Mora (Ph.D. student under the supervision of Dr. Joan Arnedo Moreno in IT, KISON Group at Open University of Catalonia and Dr. Carina Gonzalez in the ITED Group at University of La Laguna) and Gustavo Tondello (Ph.D. student under the supervision of Dr. Lennart Nacke in the HCI Games Group and Dr. Daniel Vogel in the Cheriton School of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo). We are looking for volunteers to take part in an exploratory study of user types of gameful digital applications and personalization of gameful design elements. This research intends to explore how different user types would prefer to personalize their gameful digital applications in different ways. If you decide to volunteer, you will be asked to complete a 10-15 minute online survey that is completed anonymously. This announcement is about three related programming contests: - Waterloo-local ACM-style programming contest on Saturday October 1 - ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest - ACM-ICPC North America Qualification Contest on Saturday September 24 The next Waterloo-local ACM-style programming contest will be held on Saturday, October 1 in MC 3022 and MC 2061. All members of the UW community are invited to try their programming skill in Scheme, C, C++, Java, or Pascal. The contest will run from 1 pm sharp until 4 pm (Eastern time), and will be followed by pizza. To all eager students wanting to be apart of an early stage startup, read ahead!  I'm looking for a full stack developer or an app developer with experience or no experience, just talent (self judged).  The concept revolves around mental health & improving the often traditional approach to seeking therapy & giving users the potential to have a consistent support network by their side although online. I'll expand on the idea once we get in contact. Equity will be generously given to who works on the team & pay isn't guaranteed since I'm broke & looking to be the next Steve Jobs while trying to find Steve Wozniak.
