GIRLsmarts4tech workshop for Grade 7

Women in Computer Science (WICS) and SAP are jointly running a workshop on computer technology, held at the University of Waterloo on Saturday, October 24, 2015.

GIRLsmarts4tech is a day-long workshop aimed at encouraging young women to explore computer technology. Attendees will learn about various aspects of computer science, such as game design, user interfaces, and applications of computer science to other disciplines (e.g., music, science). This workshop is intended for Grade 7 girls who have little to no programming experience.

GIRLsmarts4tech has run very successfully for several years in Vancouver as a joint initiative between SAP and the University of British Columbia. The October workshop will be the first offering of GIRLsmarts4tech in Waterloo. Depending on student demand, we hope to make this an annual or semi-annual event.

Additional information about the workshop and registration can be found on the GIRLsmarts4tech Web page. (https://cs.uwaterloo.ca/wics/events-activities/girlsmarts4tech)

If you or your students have any questions about the event, please contact us at gs4t@uwaterloo.ca.
