Winter 2019 NSERC USRA available


The NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) is a great opportunity for undergraduates to work with a researcher and carry out full-time research for a term.  You will be paid least $7840 per term with a 35-40 hour work week spread over 16 weeks. At this time, there are three USRA available for Winter 2019.

What are the application deadlines to have a NSERC USRA for Winter 2019?

  • Co-op deadline - Monday, September 17, 2018 - If you want to use the NSERC USRA as a co-op placement, then your application must be processed before co-op interviews. If you are a co-op student that wants to apply after the co-op deadline, this may be possible but you will need to contact your CECA advisor to ensure that you can use the USRA as your work term placement.
  • Final term deadline - Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - Final deadline for all regular and co-op students (see note above regarding co-op student). 
What do I need to do?
  1. Ensure you are eligible
  2. Find a supervisor that you would like to work with.
  3. Decide on a research project and clearly define your role
  4. Complete the following on the NSERC online system: http://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/OnlineServices-ServicesEnLigne/Index_eng.asp
a)     Complete and submit Form 202 - Part I
b)     Upload your official transcript with legend attached
  1. Ensure that your supervisor completes the online application (Form 202 - Part II).
  2. Email Jessica Leung (j10leung@uwaterloo.ca) when Form 202 (Part I and II) is complete before the deadlines (see above).

Grad students needed to mark reports for PD2

WatPD is currently seeking graduate students to mark reports for PD2: Critical Reflection and Report Writing from late-March to early-April. Students in this course must write a 16-20 page report which is worth 50% of their final grade. With over 1500 reports expected to be submitted, we need your help!
