Still looking for COOP position for spring 2019?


Professor Chrystopher L. Nehaniv (Departments of Systems Design Engineering, and Electrical & Computer Engineering, UWaterloo) has two coop positions available for suitable candidates who are eligible to receive NSERC USRA funding.  You need to be in 2A or above, have a 80% GPA or greater, be a Canadian citizen/permanent resident of Canada, etc.

Title: Computational Algebraic Intelligence in STEM
Description: Development and application of computer algebraic tools for automatically creating coordinate systems in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) application area in a finite discrete-event system models. Artificial algebraic intelligence provides novel methods for AI systems to understand and hierarchically manipulate (e.g. autonomously generating strategies for solving a permutation puzzle like Rubik's cube).  Subprojects include algorithmic, applications, and/or interface programming work.
Other information or restrictions: Strong programming ability in a higher level language, and experience with scripting languages. Excellent English spoken and writing skills. Strong mathematical aptitude required, familiarity with discrete mathematics/graph theory/finite automata highly desirable as background.  Suitable for strong Math/CS/Eng/Science students with suitable interests and background.

Title: Asynchronous Interaction Machines
Description: Programming and visualization of synchronously and asynchronously updated cellular automata and interaction machines (automata networks that grow and change their topologies in response to interactions/events, with recursive hierarchical structure).
Other information or restrictions: Excellent programming ability in higher level programming languages (e.g. python, java, functional and string processing languages). Previous experiences with visualization/graphical user interface design. Excellent mathematical and algorithmic skills/aptitude. Excellent spoken and written English skills.  Suitable for strong Math/CS/Eng/Science students with suitable interests and background.

Grad students needed to mark reports for PD2

WatPD is currently seeking graduate students to mark reports for PD2: Critical Reflection and Report Writing from late-March to early-April. Students in this course must write a 16-20 page report which is worth 50% of their final grade. With over 1500 reports expected to be submitted, we need your help!
