Online Paid Research Opportunity - Spring and Fall 2020

Qualifications: The applicant should have expertise in Computer Science. The ideal student should have experience with Minecraft especially in creating Minecraft plugins (‘mods’). Data analysis and visualization will also be essential. In addition, successful applicants should:
  • be conscientious, i.e., hard-working, reliable, organized.
  • enthusiastic about learning cognitive neuroscience research practices.
  • prior experience as a research assistant is desired (but not necessary).
  • applicants should enjoy working with others
Benefits: You will gain hands-on experience with all aspects of data collection and data entry. You will also learn about experimental designs and analysis. This project involves a collaboration with industry (NVidia) and other researchers at Essex University in the UK. Students will gain experience in interdisciplinary collaborations and will develop skills useful in both further study (i.e., graduate school) and industry.

Research Area: 
This project is interested in how boredom leads to differences in exploratory behavior in video game play (namely Minecraft). 

Duties:
  • Writing ethics application
  • Collecting Minecraft play data (via MTurk)
  • Analyzing data
Time commitment: minimum 6 –8 hours/week

Grad students needed to mark reports for PD2

WatPD is currently seeking graduate students to mark reports for PD2: Critical Reflection and Report Writing from late-March to early-April. Students in this course must write a 16-20 page report which is worth 50% of their final grade. With over 1500 reports expected to be submitted, we need your help!
