Qualifications: The applicant should have expertise in Computer Science. The ideal student should have experience with Minecraft especially in creating Minecraft plugins (‘mods’). Data analysis and visualization will also be essential. In addition, successful applicants should:
- be conscientious, i.e., hard-working, reliable, organized.
- enthusiastic about learning cognitive neuroscience research practices.
- prior experience as a research assistant is desired (but not necessary).
- applicants should enjoy working with others
Research Area:
This project is interested in how boredom leads to differences in exploratory behavior in video game play (namely Minecraft).
Duties:
- Writing ethics application
- Collecting Minecraft play data (via MTurk)
- Analyzing data
Time commitment: minimum 6 –8 hours/week
