New Blockchain Challenge for UWaterloo Students


The next wave of challenges are here - whether you are looking to help organizations affected by the pandemic or build with top platforms and tools, these virtual hackathons provide a way for you to keep growing and learning new skills, while also providing an opportunity to collaborate and win some amazon prizes, including cash and meetings with top companies.

There is no cost to enter and projects can be submitted online anytime prior to the deadline.  Each challenge also has resources and community available to help participants connect and ask questions along the way!


Amazon Raise-Up Buildathon 🤝
  • Goal: Develop (or update) sustainable solutions that help the nonprofit sector and cultural institutions engage the public to drive critical donations, uphold mission delivery, and address the evolving challenges faced by the sector. 
  • Requirement: Solutions must integrate at least one AWS service into their solution and address at least one of the available categories.
  • Prizes: $31,000 in prizes, including cash and meetings with AWS Nonprofit team

Atlassian Codegeist 2020 👩💻
  • Goal: Build innovative cloud apps on Atlassian in one of the two categories: Built with Connect or Built with Forge
  • Prizes: $315,000 in prizes, including cash and virtual meetings with Atlassian R&D team

 Facebook Online Hackathons (Series 2) 💻
  • Choose from innovative tech tracks: Augmented Reality (AR), Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Messaging
  • Prizes: Up to $21K cash prizes and virtual meetings with Facebook engineers up for grabs

Square Small Business Hackathon 🏟
  • Goal: Build (or update) apps using Square developer tools to help sellers grow and adapt in one of the following categories: Retail, Food & Beverage, Healthcare or Services & Other Use Cases
  • Prizes: $36,000 in prizes, including cash, directed donations and meetings with Square team
  • Note: Only available to residents of Australia, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, United States (see full rules for details)
