There are three courses offered by the Centre for Society, Technology and Values: STV 205: Cybernetics and Society; STV 205: Cybernetics and Society; and STV 302: Information Technology and Society.
- STV 205: Cybernetics and Society. A exploration of human-machine feedback related systems, including history, philosophy, and ethics.
- STV 210: The Computing Society (held with HIST 212). A history of computing, taught through a lens of critical thinking about technology and society of today. Perhaps my favourite course to teach, and I’m saying that as a UW CS alumni.
- STV 302: Information Technology and Society. The ‘hot topics’ computing and society course. It’s taught seminar style, with an emphasis on independent research similar to CS492.
