While the world’s challenges are costly to nations and
communities that are impacted, the drive for social impact through innovation
has fueled successful health track Canadian startups like Mr Young (mryoung.co), a conversational companion
with artificial intelligence that helps young people cope with anxiety and
connect them with mental care professional.
On the education track, Embrace The Life (http://embracethelifevr.com) is an
interactive virtual reality to aid people in wheelchairs become familiar with
new environments and increase autonomy, mobility and reinforce motivation,
and improve their daily lives. Both of these applications were finalists in
previous Coopérathon competition.
Now in its third year, Coopérathon has already
become the world's largest open innovation platform, a unique pre-incubation
challenge, it brings together students, experts, mentors, strategists,
developers, designers, socio-preneurs and partners to collaborate on projects
that provide meaningful, concrete solutions to social issues.
Participants gain access to workshops and
mentorship at sites across Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Waterloo, Gatineau.
Sherbooke, Quebec City, Levi, and Shawinigan (as well as in Italy and France),
develop a product and the next great startup in 25 days, and win over $100,000
in prizes.
