Transfer into CS and adding the Digital Hardware or AI options


Attention student interested in transferring to Computer Science or adding to the following options to your Computer Science Degree:
  • Bachelor of Computer Science
  • Bachelor of Mathematics (Computer Science)
  • Bachelor of Computer Science (Data Science)
  • A Joint Computer Science program
  • The Digital Hardware option
  • The Artificial Intelligence option  


Deadline
You can apply for the above programs/options at https://oat.uwaterloo.ca/forms. Applications are due online by December 17, 2019 by 11:59 PM EST. Late applications will not be accepted.

Process
We will consider applications after final grades have been released and students will hear back early the following term. Any student who transfers into CS and is not already in their required courses for Winter 2019 will be helped into the necessary courses. For more information regarding transferring into CS, you can go to https://cs.uwaterloo.ca/current/faq/ and review FAQ 2 and/or 3.

Basic eligibility for transfer:
Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Mathematics (Computer Science), or the Joint CS program
  • Have credit for CS 136/146 or are currently taking CS 136/146 during Fall 2018
  • If you are not in the Faculty of Mathematics, then you should have initiated an internal transfer to Mathematics as well.

Bachelor of Computer Science (Data Science)
  • Have credit for CS 136/146 or are currently taking CS 136/146 during Fall 2018.
  • Have credit for STAT 231 or are currently taking STAT 231 during Fall 2018.
  • You must be a CS student to apply for BCS Data Science OR be applying for a transfer to CS.

Digital Hardware Option
  • Students should apply during your 1A term/before your 1B term.


Artificial Intelligence Option
  • Have credit for CS 245 and 246 or will be taking CS 245 and 246 during Spring 2019.
  • See FAQ 152 for more information. 
  • Note: Applications will be open year round, but we only review applications once a year at the end of the Spring term to enroll students for the Fall term into the option.

Grad students needed to mark reports for PD2

WatPD is currently seeking graduate students to mark reports for PD2: Critical Reflection and Report Writing from late-March to early-April. Students in this course must write a 16-20 page report which is worth 50% of their final grade. With over 1500 reports expected to be submitted, we need your help! Strong candidates for this position will have: ·          a desire to support students in an online learning environment ·          previous marking and/or teaching experience (preferably post-secondary) ·          strong written communication skills ·          an ability to correct quality of writing errors ·          a good understanding of English grammar and syntax To be eligible for this position, you must be available for training sessions in March that are held on campus at the University of Waterloo.
