Lowe's is looking for exceptional applied research scientists to join their search relevance and ranking team. The Search sciences team works on applying a wide range of information retrieval concepts such as query understanding, NLP, ranking and relevance to improve the overall search experience for their customers. Your work will help millions of home improvement customers search and discover the best products that satisfy their information needs from our catalog of millions of items.

About the work:

  • Your work will involve implementing the latest information retrieval approaches to improve product search in the home improvement domain. You will be delivering projects with significant impact on customer satisfaction and revenue.
  • You will build custom NLP models to improve search query understanding based on the latest research in the field of NLP and machine learning.
  • Your work will also involve designing and implementing highly scalable, and efficient machine learning applications in conjunction with our search engineering team.
  • You will have the opportunity to use state of the art approaches such as counterfactual evaluation to evaluate the quality of search relevance and ranking.
  • You will be actively involved in the end-to-end development lifecycle of Search, from problem understanding, ideation and conceptualization to development and production of various search features.
  • You will collaborate with diverse cross functional stakeholders such as Search Engineers, Data Engineers and Product Managers in crafting and implementing your technical vision for online search.
  • You will have the opportunity to publish your work at leading scientific conferences such as SIGIR, WebConf, ACL, KDD, and CIKM

Grad students needed to mark reports for PD2

WatPD is currently seeking graduate students to mark reports for PD2: Critical Reflection and Report Writing from late-March to early-April. Students in this course must write a 16-20 page report which is worth 50% of their final grade. With over 1500 reports expected to be submitted, we need your help!
