The “Intergenerational Games with Social Robots” project is
a joint initiative by the Social
and Intelligent Robotics Research Laboratory (SIRRL) and Intelligent
Technologies for Wellness and Independent Living (ITWIL) research labs at
the University of Waterloo. The project aims to create interactive games
mediated by social robots that can be used to foster interactions between
grandparents and grandchildren. We are currently designing tools that can be
used by game designers and HRI/HCI researchers to create better experiments and
interactive activities with respect to both games and robots. We are looking
for students who are keenly interested in conducting research in creating and
evaluating these tools using remote research. The student will be working with
both human-computer interaction (HCI) and human-robotic interaction (HRI)
researchers as well as with experts in the fields of engineering and assistive
technologies.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the re-design and development of a novel tool to streamline the creation games-based human-robot interactions.
- Support the design of an evaluation study aiming to validate the tool previously designed using remote research.
- Lead the experiment coordination (i.e., participant recruitment, ethics application, data collection and processing)
- Support participants in the execution of the steps for the evaluation study.
