This year UW is organizing a university-wide competition to profile grad student research. This Three Minute Thesis competition restricts graduate students to presenting their research in three minutes (no more) in plain English with the help of one static slide (no other props) before a panel of judges and members of the wider community
The competition began in Australia, at the University of Queensland, but has now spread internationally. In Canada, UBC, Queen's, Western, McMaster and others have been involved over the past couple of years. 17 intrepid graduate students from the Faculty of Math have signed up for a two-hour heat to be held at 3pm on Friday, March 1 in DC 1304. Please attend to cheer the students and to (quickly!) learn about the breadth of research being done in our faculty. Refreshments will be provided.
