What is a URA?
A URA is an opportunity for an exceptional student to help a professor with a research project.
What’s in it for the student?
- Real research experience.
- Pocket money! ($1000/term, paid once near the end of the term).
- Looks great on a resume.
- Help decide whether to do graduate studies.
Who’s eligible?
- Completed 2nd year in Faculty of Math.
- >/= 80% cumulative average.
- Preference to CS majors.
- A student can only do one URA per term.
- A student cannot be on a co-op term while doing URA.
What does the student have to do?
- Find a project (see URL, below).
- Send a resume and recent grade report to the professor; request an appointment.
- Reach a verbal agreement on the details of the project.
- Fill in the registration form (URL below) and email a completed URA application form to marcia.taylor@uwaterloo.ca
When?
- Now! Definitely before the end of the first month of term.
