Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute 4-year PhD Studentships Registered at the University of Cambridge

The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is a world leading genomics institute, and our programmes are at the forefront of experimental and computational genome research. These research programmes include investigation of human genetic variation in health, cancer and other diseases, experimental genetic analysis of gene function in a variety of model organisms, biological studies of bacterial, viral and parasitic human pathogens, and computational interpretation of genomic data.

Progress in many areas of biology is becoming increasingly dependent on genomics, and our programme specifically aims to equip students with both experimental and informatics skills, maximising their competitiveness for future opportunities. Our graduate training programme is well established and has substantial support from the Wellcome Trust. Furthermore, the research infrastructure resources available at the Sanger Institute are outstanding.

At least ten highly competitive fully funded 4-year studentships (tuition fees and stipend) for UK and international students will be available from October 2013 across all our research areas.

Application closing date 4th December 2012

GSA SPARK 2020

GSA SPARK Join us in the fight against SPARK!   In GSA Capital’s boardroom sits SPARK — a decades-old blade server, entombed forever in acrylic to be displayed as a proud reminder of GSA’s journey.   SPARK was an invaluable step toward the sophisticated algorithms in use today, but was retired from active trading and destined never to be booted up again.    But last night, through a series of unfortunate errors, the server was reconnected to GSA’s internal network.
